National and State Councils to Be Announced Shortly
The World Christian Council (WCC), a global interdenominational body committed to spiritual unity, revival, and humanitarian leadership, has officially installed its International Administrative Team for the term 2025–2027. The ceremonial transition, held at the WCC International Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, marks a significant moment in WCC’s ongoing mission to unite the global Christian community for Kingdom purpose.
After a dedicated and fruitful two-year term (2023–2025), the outgoing leadership team was honored for their unwavering commitment to service, particularly in strengthening ecumenical ties, expanding humanitarian outreach, and nurturing spiritual leadership across continents.
Taking charge from 1st July 2025, the newly appointed international team comprises seasoned Christian leaders, theologians, evangelists, legal and humanitarian professionals representing every major region of the world. The new President, Rev. Dr. Lucia Hernandez (Mexico), and Secretary General, Rev. Dr. Michael Williams (USA), will lead this strategic global team, supported by Deputy Secretary General Dr. Grace Mbatha (Kenya) and Vice Presidents from Asia, Africa, the Americas, Europe, and Oceania.
“The new administrative body reflects the cultural diversity, theological depth, and global mission of the Church today,” said Dr. Hernandez, addressing delegates during the handover ceremony. “We are committed to prayerfully advancing the vision of the WCC: unity in Christ, service to nations, and revival across generations.”
In conjunction with the international leadership transition, the WCC has initiated the restructuring of all National and State Councils. The existing National and State Council members will conclude their term on 31st March 2025. A Three-Month Selection Campaign (April–June 2025) has been underway to prayerfully discern and appoint new leadership at the regional level.
WCC has officially announced that:
All National Secretary Generals are required to submit their finalized National and State Council teams to the Deputy Secretary General on or before 5th July 2025.
The official announcement of the new National and State Councils will be made on or before 7th July 2025.
The newly appointed leaders will serve from 1st July 2025 to 30th March 2027.
This restructuring aligns with WCC’s commitment to regional empowerment and mission-focused mobilization across grassroots Christian communities.
“Local leadership is the heartbeat of global transformation,” said Rev. Carlene Miller, newly appointed Vice President for Global Strategy & Unity. “The coming term will witness greater collaboration between our international directives and regional implementations.”
The World Christian Council (WCC) is an international fellowship of Christian leaders, churches, institutions, and ministries united by the gospel and called to global spiritual impact. With representation in over 128 countries, WCC engages in evangelism, reconciliation, humanitarian aid, leadership development, legal advocacy, and socio-spiritual transformation.

WCC Commends New Pope’s Stand on Biblical Marriage; Announces Upcoming Dialogue for Global Christian Unity
PRESS RELEASE
For Immediate Release
Date: 17th May 2025
Issued by: World Christian Council (WCC) – International Head Office, Geneva, Switzerland
Geneva, Switzerland – 17 May 2025
In a significant gesture toward renewed unity in the global Christian community, the World Christian Council (WCC) has extended its formal blessings and spiritual support to the newly elected Pope, commending his recent statements reaffirming marriage as a sacred covenant between one man and one woman.
This affirmation by the New Pope—seen by many as a notable departure from the more liberal views expressed during Pope Francis' era—resonates deeply with WCC’s long-standing biblical foundation and its bold stance against doctrinal compromise. The WCC, a non-denominational Christian body headquartered in Geneva, has been a consistent global voice advocating for truth, scriptural faithfulness, and unity in Christ beyond denominational lines.
“We welcome the New Pope’s clarity and courage in upholding marriage as instituted by the Creator,” said Rev. Dr. Michael Williams, WCC President. “His position echoes our own declaration: that worship must be directed to God the Creator, and that marriage remains a divine covenant, not a cultural invention.”
The WCC’s leadership sees this moment as providential. With increasing division across the Christian world, the New Pope’s alignment with traditional biblical values presents an opportunity for realignment around eternal truths.
To further this vision, the WCC has officially announced plans to meet with the New Pope in the coming months to discuss avenues for Global Christian Unity. This historic engagement will focus on building bridges between the Catholic Church and other Christian denominations through biblical dialogue and spiritual reconciliation, under the facilitation of WCC’s international mediation framework.
“The upcoming meeting represents more than diplomacy,” said Rev. Dr. Lucia Hernandez, WCC Secretary General. “It is a sacred initiative to restore unity—not by human ideology, but by the Spirit and the Word of God.”
The World Christian Council (WCC) solemnly honors the enduring legacy of His Holiness Pope John Paul II, who is recognized by the Council as a God-ordained Chief Patron and a foundational spiritual influence in the shaping of WCC’s global mission. His steadfast commitment to life, family, biblical truth, and inter-denominational unity laid a profound spiritual cornerstone upon which the WCC continues to build.
“Pope John Paul II was not only a leader of the Catholic Church, but a unifying figure across the Body of Christ,” affirmed Dr. Faith Ndlovu, Deputy Secretary General of WCC. “His partnership with WCC in spirit and purpose continues to inspire our global efforts to this day.”
In light of the New Pope’s recent alignment with biblical convictions and Christ-centered leadership, the WCC expresses hopeful expectation for renewed collaboration—mirroring the spirit of shared purpose that marked the relationship between WCC and Pope John Paul II. The Council remains prayerfully confident that the New Pope will continue this legacy, becoming an active partner in WCC’s mission to foster unity, uphold Scripture, and serve the global Christian family under the Lordship of Christ the Creator.
This announcement follows WCC’s major press release on May 5, 2025, which confirmed the appointment of Secretary Generals in over 20 nations, a significant move to decentralize leadership and ensure active spiritual governance across all continents.
These appointments were made under the supervision of WCC’s International Committee, which includes prominent leaders such as:
Rev. Isaac Owusu (Ghana), Chief Intercessor
Rev. Charles Madu (Nigeria), Director of Evangelism & Revival
Pastor Jonathan Kim (South Korea), Director of Strategic Missions
Bishop Anna Eléonore (France), Director of Peace & Reconciliation
Ms. Amanda Taiwo (Canada), Youth Global Lead
Mrs. Thandi Mhlongo (Zimbabwe), Women’s International Chair
Mr. Hugo Martinez (Argentina), Media & Global Communications
These developments reflect WCC’s growing influence in shaping global Christian discourse, especially in areas of biblical doctrine, cultural engagement, and mission mobilization.
